Freeletics CEO Daniel Sobhani has been there from the start. He’s steered the company from a small startup operating out of an apartment to the health and fitness behemoth it is today. A lot of things have changed over the years, but one thing has remained constant: Freeletics has always been about removing barriers, about throwing aside excuses and about daring to be free from everything that could hold you back from your fitness and life goals. Dare To Be Free cuts to the very core of what Freeletics stands for. Here’s Daniel on what it means to him.
I loved Freeletics from the start and jumping on board as CEO was a no-brainer. Clichéd as it sounds, it’s 100% true. Every day, it challenges and inspires me to continue learning and growing. There’s always a new curveball. Every day, we challenge and inspire people to become the greatest versions of themselves. And for me, there’s nothing more rewarding than that. The stories and feedback we see from the Community show us that we are not just trying to do the right thing, but that we’re succeeding, and those amazing stories make all the hard work worthwhile.
Having experienced for myself how leading a healthy, active lifestyle can completely change your life, I wanted to enable as many people as possible to make a change for the better. Trust me, I’ve been there and I have had my share of struggle. As a teenager, I spent most of my days playing computer games. I was overweight and even smoking, and school was not high on my list of priorities. When I decided that this had to stop, my whole life changed for the better. Only then did I start believing in my own potential. To be free of the barriers I thought I had. If you’ve got the desire to change and the determination to see it through, anything is possible. And this is what Freeletics is.
This is an incredibly exciting time for us. Thanks to our investors, we now have the freedom to grow and do more of the things we have wanted to do since the beginning. This is where the hard work really kicks in. The launch of our Training Journeys and adding weights is just the beginning. Right now, I am trying out the Hybrid Strength Training Journey and I have to say, it’s really kicking my ass, but I love it! With these Journeys, we are on the road to becoming the Netflix of fitness. People will be able to pick and choose what works for them, so that they can get fit on their own terms. Barriers and excuses will be a thing of the past. Imagine that.
Dare To Be Free is what Freeletics has always stood for. From the moment we started disrupting the fitness industry in 2013, we wanted to offer people a way to train that set them free from the usual barriers to fitness. And this hasn’t changed. To me, Dare To Be Free means that you should take that leap and see what it feels like to leave behind the barriers you thought you had, but that were only ever in your mind. It’s daring to unleash your full potential by shaking off all those excuses you may have been using to protect yourself from failing. It’s making a way where you thought there was no way. It’s being the greatest version of yourself on your terms - achieving your goals no matter what life throws at you.
The community’s response to Dare To Be Free has inspired us to push for even greater heights in 2019. And with our strong company culture, we’re ready to take on the challenge, both on the training ground and in the office. We believe in encouraging and helping every single person here at Freeletics to unleash their potential. To do that, we have to provide the right conditions for them to flourish, so we support each other by providing as much freedom as possible. Freedom to work on our own ideas, to work in a way which suits us best and to think outside the box.
I’m excited about every aspect of the Dare To Be Free campaign. To see all of our ideas come to life is just awesome. Already, we’ve had the powerful campaign videos, the global surveys to find out more about people’s barriers to fitness, the Freeletics CEO panel, the CEO Challenge and our awesome Dare To Be Free Truck. Seeing people spread the message of the campaign by taking part in the Dare To Be Free Challenge on social media is also so special, because it shows that our message is real. And if it’s important to them, it’s important to us.
Dare To Be Free isn’t just a campaign, it’s a lifestyle.
