Header1

It’s that time of year again. Flu time. Is everyone around you dropping like flies? You’re just counting the minutes, convinced you’re next? Sure, getting the flu is not fun. And when it strikes, you can be rest assured that you’ll be out of the game for a while. However, we know that it’s not unavoidable. And we want to help you fight it. Stick to these 4 tips and be a sole survivor of the flu this winter.

Stick to your training routine

Sure once you get ill it’s a good idea to take a break. But in winter if you still feel fighting fit, there’s no need. Exercise has been said to actually prevent illness. Every burpee, sit up and squat you do keeps your circulation going which increases the number of cells in your bloodstream that travel around fighting against the bad guys such as bacteria and viruses.

Choose your tea wisely

Whether you’re coming down with the flu or you’re just having a bad day, a nice hot cup of tea will make anyone feel better. But when it comes to fighting off illnesses, some are more powerful than others. These include green tea, matcha tea, ginger tea and chamomile tea. All of which contain powerful antioxidants.

Our tip: Those with caffeine, like green tea, are best consumed in the morning. Whereas chamomile tea is best to enjoy before bed.

Make sure you’re getting enough sleep

A lack of sleep makes us more prone to infection. So the chances of you getting a cold are much higher if you sleep less than 6 hours a night. That extra hour of shut-eye is therefore definitely worth missing your favorite TV series. Not sure how much sleep your body needs?

Your body needs nutrients!

Nutrition is always important. But in winter, even more so. Foods like garlic are well-known, powerful flu fighters. Zinc is also known for its power to fight colds and protect the immune system. Mixed together with VItamin C, for example citrus fruits, and berries, the chances of you getting a cold this winter are pretty slim.

Our tip: Have a jug of hot water, fresh ginger and lemon at your side at all times.

Eat Clean, sleep well, train hard. The flu won’t stand a chance.
