Hannes was looking for a fitness routine he could finally commit to. What he didn’t expect? How this seemingly small change would transform every aspect of his life for the better. Fitness changed his life, and this is just the beginning. Here’s his story:
“I enjoyed exercise before the Transformation Challenge, but I never managed to stick with it. My diet and lifestyle overall were healthy, but I just didn’t have a strict routine. Sleep could have been better, too.
I joined the challenge with the goal of increasing my energy levels throughout the day. Additionally, a six-pack would be nice. ;) I was excited to get into a routine, but I also feared the days when my motivation might be low.
By the end of the challenge, I wanted to enjoy sticking to a routine and working out regularly. I imagined myself feeling good, mentally stronger, going to bed on time, and sticking to a meal plan.
But overall, the biggest change I wanted to see for myself was sticking with it. And I thought Freeletics could help so I could focus more on just working out.”
Mindset shift from “have-to” to “need-to”
“Halfway through the challenge, my relationship with fitness has completely changed! Previously, I knew I had to work out, but couldn’t manage to do it consistently. Now, I enjoy working out – I even need it.
One week, I was sick and couldn't work out, and I noticed myself getting more and more grumpy. I found myself looking forward to getting back to my weekly routine again.
That said, there’s one thing that needs to be accounted for – it takes time. I had underestimated the time commitment – I'm spending much more time in the kitchen and on my fitness mat. But it’s worth it – a new lifestyle comes with new priorities and that means making time for what matters.
This mindset has also transferred to my personal and professional life. I realized that I had been overthinking and over-engineering a lot of things. The Transformation Challenge has changed my reality.
It’s shown me that once you focus on the important things – putting in the reps and the food – it's easy to get quick results. It's amazing how fast things started to change.”
Growth beyond the physical
“My mental health is so much better than before. Of course, my physical health is, too. I love that halfway through the challenge, I have a better routine now. I am more perceptive of my energy levels, and my focus at work has improved.
I'm proud of myself for proving that I can change my life. Though it sometimes feels like a stretch, I am even more determined to prove to myself that I can do it all.
This challenge feels like it’s only just beginning and I'm looking forward to the next weeks to see what else will change. Thinking of the journey so far makes me happy, and I’m sad to see it's coming to an end.”

New life, new chapter, new journey
“At the end of the Transformation Challenge, my life has changed substantially. I finally realize how important fitness is for overall health, but also for everyday life.
Morning workouts have had so much impact on my day, and working out consistently has so much impact on my overall life. Fitness has become the first small domino that caused many more to fall.
I realized how much I have been overcomplicating things. Working out doesn't have to be a burden – it's just about following the pre-defined exercises. It's as simple as that.
I started the challenge because I didn’t have a routine, worked long hours, didn't sleep well enough, and was overall very stressed. All of that has changed – I prioritize exercise, sleep well, eat healthy, and do so much more.
And I exceeded the goals I set at the beginning:
- Getting a routine and making positive life changes – done.
- Getting a six-pack – done.
But beyond that, I also realized there are so many more possibilities than I could have ever imagined. The biggest, most important one was how much this challenge has helped me mentally. The energy I gained from working out even helped me break free from a slump.
Working out, seeing results, having a community, and having new routines have made me truly appreciate so many things.”
Looking forward
“This experience has taught me what's possible when you do one thing consistently. I couldn't have ever imagined what the results could look like. Simply not overcomplicating things.
And just having proof of what I am capable of makes me optimistic for the future.
I’ve decided to leave Munich and work as a digital nomad, which involves a lot of traveling. No matter where I am, I know that I have to prioritize fitness. I’ll look for communities to work out with and establish a new routine (depending on where I'm living).
I was able to keep up my routine while I was in Sweden and Spain last summer, so, wherever you are – No Excuses!”
My advice: Push through the early challenges
“Make a deliberate choice and stick with it for a while to see if it’s right for you. Some things become clear only after a while.”
